Based on the August 2019 NICB Hail Report, which looks back at data from 2016 - 2018, Colorado earns runner up honorable mention. It’s Texas! Texas ranks as the top state in hail loss claims. The report goes on to recognize May as the highest monthly average for hail loss claims, followed by June and then April. Insurance claims by state is just one way to look at hail damage, but it is often considered the most accurate analysis on hail damage in any given year.
When it comes to major hail events (regardless of insurance claims) Texas once again rises to the top. Now keep in mind that Texas is a huge landmass, in fact 2nd largest next to Alaska. Texas also has one of the largest populations in the country, ranked 2nd only to California based on the 2019 census.
